Director, Business Development

The Director of Business Development is responsible for all outbound lead generation and identification of new opportunities, and for the aggregation, reporting, and analysis on those efforts. Additionally, the Director of Business Development will collaborate with our Brand, Strategy and Creative teams to strengthen the representation of 20nine services, solutions and products in the greater marketplace, and will be responsible for delivering that message to potential Clients and Prospects, at any trade shows or conferences, and through all outbound communications.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively expand the universe of new business opportunities through outbound lead generation and prospecting via traditional means, including LinkedIn and email
  • Manage the creation, and drive the execution of various outbound lead-gen campaigns to cultivate interest in 20nine and our services
  • Ensure that lead generation programs can be tracked accordingly, and results are measurable
  • Use all tools available, such as internet search, LinkedIn, email, social media, and personal references/referrals, etc. to research, identify, and penetrate new business opportunities within targeted territories, vertical categories, and accounts
  • Work with Strategy team to define 20nine’s communication strategy and ensure that program messaging is correct, consistent, and effective
  • Achieve and exceed personal and sales team quota targets (specifically: new leads, new qualified opportunities, deals closed)
  • Ability to understand the sales process and overcome competitive sales challenges
  • Record all customer information and provide sales team with detailed call notes on all leads worked in Salesforce.com
  • Partner effectively with 20nine Leadership and other teams to schedule meetings with prospective customers and manage the nurturing of qualified opportunities through to closure
  • Promote activities and events to stimulate interest from prospective client accounts

Skills & Competencies

  • BA / BS preferred
  • 8-10 years’ experience in Account Management/Client Services and/or New Business Development/Sales within an agency setting, specifically in marketing or branding services
  • Passion for marketing, branding, and technology, and for crafting solutions to meet clients’ challenges
  • Comfort and competence presenting to and collaborating with potential clients’ leadership teams (CEOs, CMOs, SVPs, etc.)
  • Adopts a consultative approach, values listening and asking questions before using sales strategies
  • High energy and enthusiasm; eager to network, connect, and develop relationships
  • Confident, persuasive, and has strong perseverance in chasing new clients
  • Strong organizational and follow-up / follow-thru skills
  • Very detail-oriented and process driven
  • Ability to collaborate well in a team environment
  • Experience and comfort using CRM software, specifically Salesforce.com
  • Experience and competence using MS Word, Excel, and PPT
  • Ability to develop clear action plans and drive processes with numerous interdependencies
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills, as well as exceptional writing (particularly in the area of persuasive selling), editing and formatting skills
