Largest Powerball®

Robert & Frances Chaney of Jacksonville and Steve & Carolyn West of Medford purchased the winning ticket that matched all six numbers in the October 19, Powerball drawing. Frances’ ticket was purchased at Ray’s Food Place in Jacksonville.

Robert & Frances each received a prize of $34,102,514, and Steve & Carolyn each received a prize of $39,352,514, before state and federal taxes were withheld. Other family members receiving prizes were Robert & Frances’ son, Steven Chaney, $3.5 million; and daughters Brenda Green, $3.5 million; Robin Whitzel, $3.5 million; Sue Krammer, $3.5 million; and Steve West’s brother, Gary, $3.5 million. All prize amounts were before state and federal taxes were withheld.

Since the Oregon Lottery began selling tickets on April 25, 1985, it has earned over $4.2 billion for economic development, public education, state parks and watershed enhancements. In that same period, it has paid its players more than $10 billion in prizes.
